The Rig Lock is an innovative accessory from White Monkey that solves one of the most underestimated problems in offshore trolling: locking the rig inside the kona.
When using a stiff rig, it is of fundamental importance that:
- the hook is positioned at the right "height" of the skirt to set better in the mouth of the fish we intend to catch.
- the system is rigid to remain always in position even after strikes from a billfish; there must be no play or movement in the connection between the rig eye and the leader.
- the hook is oriented and fixed in a specific position, especially to ensure that angled-face lures swim and work correctly.
It is therefore essential to obtain a completely rigid system, even when the fish strikes our lure with its bill, to prevent the hook from being dislodged and to ensure it always remains in position, obviously at the correct angle and distance: this is the system for significantly increasing the number of hooked-up fish.
Until now, to achieve this goal, more complex systems were used, which were not durable during the fishing session, and often encouraged giving up and fishing without locking the rig.
The design of our RIG LOCK, cylindrical with two different sizes at the ends and some conical parts, is specifically designed to meet these technical requirements:
- the wider part perfectly accommodates the connection between leader and rig, making it rigid.
- the narrower part slides onto the nylon and in turn locks into the hole of the kona head, aided by the central conical part.
The result is a completely rigid system, made possible by a revolutionary product that does not require the use of adhesives, is universal, easily interchangeable, and durable. But that's not all!
Locking the rig in the kona can have disadvantages. One of these is the possibility that the kona does not detach from the rig during the fight, leaving the weight of the kona itself at a point where it could facilitate unhooking when our prey jumps and shakes its head violently (like a real counterbalance on the rig).
Our RIG LOCK also solves this problem, as it is designed to immediately slip out of the kona's hole during the fish's first run. A small gem in true White Monkey style.
